About the Community Grants Program

The Community Grants Program is the largest and most comprehensive granting initiative offered by the Community Foundation for Kingston & Area. Twice a year, the program welcomes proposals from local registered charities and other qualified donees, which are evaluated by a Community Grants Committee comprised of dedicated local volunteers, all working towards the betterment of Kingston & Area.

Grants awarded through this program cover a wide range of sectors, including Arts & Culture, Children’s Mental Health, Community Development, Education & Literacy, Environment, Health & Social Services, Heritage Preservation, Recreation, and Youth. The Community Grants Program prioritizes initiatives that “build resilience in individuals, families, and communities” and/or “increase belonging and wellbeing within our community.”

In the Spring 2024 round of Community Grants, the Community Foundation awarded over $329,000 to 26 local initiatives, directly impacting more than 22,000 individuals, including over 7,600 youth.
