Happy Holidays from the entire Community Foundation team!

Dec 22, 2016

“Thank you to everyone who contributed to our success this year; watch for some fabulous things to come in 2017 as we mark Canada’s 150th”

This is a time of giving, spending time with loved ones, being thankful for what we have, and compassionate to those who are less fortunate. It is certainly a great time of year for charitable giving, but also for showing kindness to others; perhaps someone who is alone for the holidays or who finds the holidays difficult.  Small deeds – a kind word or gesture – can have a big impact.

We have much to be grateful for here at the Foundation. 2016 was another great year thanks to the generosity of our donors and volunteers. Together, we engaged in important discussions and funded some amazing organizations and projects to make our community stronger – for everyone.

Last week we awarded $189,363 to 24 projects, which will benefit 13,000 people through our Community Grants Program.   These grants and grant recipients were honoured at our twice annual Community Grants Celebration.  If you were unable to attend, see the article here and check out the highlight video here.

I always find these events inspiring, and am so proud that the Foundation is here to enable local charities to engage in such innovative and important projects in our community – all made possible because of the generosity of our many donors whose gifts (large and small) to one of our Community Funds are pooled together to have a significant impact year after year.

It’s amazing what we can accomplish together – as a community.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our success this year; and watch for some fabulous things to come in 2017 as we mark Canada’s 150th.

Happy Holidays from all of us at the Foundation!
