2020 Breakfast a Huge Success!
The pandemic didn’t put a stop to the beloved annual ‘Zal & Rose breakfasts’ at Chez Piggy and Pan Chancho in support of The Food Sharing Project.
In fact, this year’s “TO GO” breakfasts SOLD OUT with 208 ‘reservations’ at Chez Piggy and 228 at Pan Chancho.
Not able to gather in person this year, Zoe Yanovsky and her team found a creative, COVID-friendly way to continue this popular fundraising event. They created beautiful “breakfast boxes to go” – which patrons picked up at their ‘reservation time’ to avoid large groups.
We are thrilled to report that donations from this year’s breakfasts have surpassed the $24,000 mark – with gifts continuing to come in.
All donations from the breakfasts support the Zal & Rose Yanovsky Breakfast Fund, a permanent endowment fund held at the Community Foundation.
Zoe Yanovsky, owner of Chez Piggy and Pan Chancho, who hosts these annual events in December in memory of the anniversary of the passing of her father shared: “I am over the moon with the outpouring of love and support and encouragement from our community, and am so full of gratitude. It gives me hope to know that in some small way, we have risen above our own individual challenges of this crazy year and come together once again. Many thanks!”
Since the fund was created in 2004, the “Zal & Rose Fund” has contributed over $174,640 to The Food Sharing Project. As the fund grows, so will the annual payout: providing The Food Sharing Project with a reliable source of annual income to help them provide healthy meals and snacks to school children in 88 schools across our region.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to make this year’s breakfast a success. And a special shout out to Zoe and her staff at Chez Piggy and Pan Chancho for continuing to host this annual fundraiser despite the added challenges caused by the pandemic.
