New Fund Supports Rural Residents

Rural Frontenac Community Services (Rural Frontenac CS) embraces the meaning of community with a team of compassionate and dedicated individuals connecting people of all ages to a wide range of services enabling them to live rural life to its fullest.

With a commitment to contributing to strong, healthy communities, Rural Frontenac Community Services is known as a leader in responding to issues specific to the rural communities of Frontenac County.  They have been providing delivering a wide range of social services to children, youth, and seniors for over 40 years.

The RFCS Board decided to leverage the Foundation’s matching grant opportunity to partner with us to manage and grow a small endowment fund it already had on the books, but which wasn’t having much visibility or impact. In 1994, their Board of Directors established an endowment fund with $2,500 for the purpose of providing financial support for programs, projects and volunteers within the Frontenac Area.

“Working with our existing endowment fund of $2,500 and updating its Terms of Reference will allow us the greatest flexibility for use of the funds, and for the Foundation to manage the endowment on our behalf.   We are excited to be working with the Community Foundation to fundraise $7,500 in new gifts, that the Community Foundation will match up to a total of $10,000” said Louise Moody, Executive Director or RFCS.

The Rural Frontenac Community Services Endowment Fund will help the agency respond to needs identified by the community and provides a means for community members to invest in their community by:

  1. Assisting with the start-up of special projects and services
  2. Purchasing special requirement needed
  3. Supporting training and professional development activities for staff and volunteers
  4. Reducing barriers to participation of residents in their communities
