New Strategic Plan for 2018-2024

The strategic planning process undertaken in 2018 culminated in a new Strategic Plan for 2018-2024. We worked with Board, staff, and diverse focus groups to establish a collective vision of the Community Foundation of the future and how we plan to get there.

What we heard as we developed the Strategic Plan 2018 – 2024 was inspiring. There was widespread acknowledgment of the great work we have done to date, and incredible support and encouragement to dream big for the Foundation – to strive to do even more; to have an even bigger positive impact on the communities we serve: all of Kingston & Area.

Three strategic themes emerged to guide our activities until 2024. We also identified guiding principles to help define the Foundation’s approach as we go about our work.

A key component of the Strategic Plan 2018 – 2024 was to transform CFKA’s governance model:

From one where the Board was involved with both setting policy and engaging in operations;
To a governance model where the Board establishes strategy and policy, reviews and approves plans, and monitors results

Thank you to those of you who participated in the focus groups to shape the image of our Community Foundation in 2024.

Given the process with implementing the Strategic Plan 2018 – 2024, the plan was refreshed in November 2021. The refreshed CFKA Strategic Plan 2022 – 2024 (Revised) can be viewed here.

The Community Foundation for Kingston & Area is situated on traditional Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Huron-Wendat territory. We acknowledge the significance of this land and all that is within it for the Indigenous Peoples who lived and continue to live here and who are sustained by this land.

It is our understanding that this territory is part of the Dish with One Spoon Treaty between the Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee to share and protect this land. In the spirit of peace, friendship and respect, all subsequent Indigenous Nations and newcomers were invited into this living treaty to care for this land and its resources.

We affirm our commitment to continuously listen, learn, and honour Indigenous histories and perspectives as we work towards building a more resilient and welcoming community. We affirm our commitment to be a space for reconciliation in action.
